THE CS WAY

At CeraShield, we pride ourselves on our professional approach to applying and removing ceramic yacht coatings, ensuring every step is executed well by our team. Our commitment to excellence and accountability in the superyacht industry guarantees that your vessel receives the highest standard of care and protection. By choosing CeraShield, you benefit from our industry-leading expertise, certified processes, and dedication to maintaining the protection and longevity of your paint.

  • Before applying either the CS10 or CS 7 Micron Ceramic Coating, we meticulously prepare the surface to ensure optimal results. This involves removing any contaminants and thoroughly cleaning the surface. We take gloss readings both before and after the preparation process. Gloss is measured in Gloss Units (GU) on a scale from 0 to 100, with new paint typically achieving around 85 GU. Our in-house standards guarantee that even the dullest paint achieves a gloss level of over 85 GU, ensuring a uniform and high-quality finish.

  • Before starting any project, we conduct thorough tests on the paintwork to ensure our products perform flawlessly. Using a calibrated Elcometer Gloss Reader at 60° degree angle, we prepare a test area to measure the surface's gloss levels.

This testing helps us determine the ideal polishing stages and methods tailored to each project, as the best approach varies depending on the paint manufacturer and condition of the yacht's paint or gel coat.

Additionally, we can perform tests on a yacht to observe how CeraShield's products withstand regular use. This allows the crew to evaluate the protection and longevity of our coatings before we proceed with the full project.

  •  There are generally two types of ceramic coatings used on yachts.  CS 7-micron and CS 10-micron coating (that is applied using a roll and tip application method and must be removed before painting). At CeraShield, we ensure that our technicians are thoroughly trained to apply ceramic yacht coatings with precision and professionalism. Our process includes several key steps to guarantee the highest standards and by following these detailed steps, CeraShield guarantees a professional and high-quality application of ceramic coatings, ensuring your yacht receives the best possible care and protection.

  • Gloss units (GU) are measured on a scale of 0-100. 85GU or above is the acceptance criteria for new paint. Our technicians work to this specification to attain a uniform finish parallel to new paint. Once the maximum gloss restoration has been achieved, we seal it with one of our range of coatings. These GU readings are documented on the GA plan of the yacht with both before GU readings and after polish GU readings.

As part of ClearShield's warranty, we return to our clients, as regularly as possible, to ensure the coating is performing and the gloss remains high. We offer to perform gloss readings onboard every 6/12 months, so we have a complete history of the vessel's gloss levels, and we monitor the gloss units and changes.
